Meet Coco...the lovable SENIOR Dalmatian.

COCO is looking for a forever home...he is a senior Dalmatian who was left with friends when his former owner lost his home and now after a year it looks like his owner may have moved on without him.
Here is his info from the Shelter Manager and if you or anyone you know in southeastern MA, RI or NEW ENGLAND is looking for a happy, gentle, well mannered companion COCO may be right for you!
Coco 26218 is 9 ½ years old. His former owner left Coco with someone and did not come back for him after a year, then the original owner could not be found. The new people did not have time for him so they brought him to us. He is housebroken, crate trained, good with cats and other dogs. Ok in the car. He is a sweet loving boy. He is a Dalmatian he came to us on 3/9/07
he is living at
for more info or directions!

Three Cheers for Burger King

Burger King is improving its animal welfare policies!!! They are committed to addressing some of the worst animal abuses concerning farm animals. They will be looking into battery cages for laying hens, gestation crates for breeding pigs, and slaughter methods for chickens and pigs. You can read about it in today's New York Times. It is important for corporations to take an ethical stance toward abuse of farm animals. Thank you Burger King.

TBar's 6-Week Foster Care Program for Dogs

It's a fact: socialized and trained dogs find forever homes faster.

We love our foster homes! Not only do our foster homes maximize the number of animals TBAR can rescue, they provide a comfortable home setting that keeps the animals happy and healthy. Foster homes provide valuable socialization and one on one rehabilitation (when needed).

If you've got room in your heart and in your home, consider becoming a part of our six week foster care program.

Another Senior Saved by ODHN

Just the other day, Old Dog Haven, a rescue dedicated to helping homeless senior dogs, rescued this tiny Maltese mix from a large shelter, in terrible condition and not very educated. Your donations cover veterinary expenses for dogs like this, who may not live long but who deserve to be comfortable and as healthy as possible, and to end their lives in a loving home.

Even a small donation can help! Please visit the Old Dog Haven web site today: www.OldDogHaven.org

Thank you!

Abuse of Animals by Fashion Industry

Did you know that the fake fur on the coat or jacket you just bought could be the fur from a racoon dog from China?

Yesterday, The HSUS escalatd their campaign to protect animals and consumers from widespread abuses by the apparel industry. They filed a legal petition with the Federal Trade Commission seeking to enforce the Fur Products Labeling Act against 14 major retailers and designers concerning false advertising and false labeling of garments with fur trim.

The "Today" show and "Good Morning America" reported on this investigation that turned up products made with fur from dogs and other species -- products that were sold as either fake fur or other types of animal fur in violation of the Federal Fur Products Labeling Act.

In response to the HSUS investigation, many retailers and designers acted to put customers and animals first -- notably Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, which have both pledged to go fur free within a year. But a disappointing number of stores and designers did not take appropriate action.

Please take action to help close the loophole that allowed this deception. Click here to find out you can help.

Meet KIMBALL available at BONES for adoption!

I know, I know...you look at this little guy and you think HOW CAN HE NOT HAVE HIS OWN FOREVER HOME????
Well...the GOOD NEWS is...he is available from foster care at B.O.N.E.S.!

Get to know him...Introducing ...KIMBALL!
(the interview!)

BONES recently sat down with Kimball to discuss his search for an adoptive family. Here is a portion of the interview

BONES: So, Kimball, what sort of family are you hoping to find through BONES?

Kimball: Well, I would definitely love a family with other young dogs to play with, and some humans to play with, and maybe even a cat to play with! A fenced-in yard to RUN in would be fabulous, too. I really like to show off my speed!!

BONES: How do you respond to the rumors that you are destructive?

Kimball: Destructive?!?! I just get bored. . . And I want to play. All the time. And run.

BONES: How do you feel about crates?

Kimball: Oh, I actually like them a lot when it comes to sleeping! They are safe and warm, and my foster mom gives me great things to chew on in there. But, during the day, I prefer to have room to play with all the other dogs. And run. Fast, fast, fast!!

BONES: Do you consider yourself a snuggler?

Kimball: I don't have the time to stop for snuggles, per se, but I do enjoy a scratch on the ears and throat. That feels great every time!

BONES: If you could say anything to potential adopters out there, what would you say?

Kimball: Pick me! Pick me!! I need someone to play with! I won't run out of energy, I promise!!

Senior Gal Seeking Companionship

My Name is Jozlin (Jozie) and I'm seeking someone who will appreciate my kindness and loyalty. At only 9 years young, I am full of energy and spirit! I may be short of stature and the vet said I need to lose a few pounds, but I took the criticism well and got a personal trainer. I am totally trustworthy indoors and get along well with my dog, cat and fish foster family housemates (I think I would like kids too). My hobbies include walking on a leash, jogging, (yes, I really can), back seat driving, salsa dancing, looking lovingly at my foster family and posing for great photos. I can be shy and hesitant at times but get through it with a little help. Even though I lost my long time family, I still remember all the right commands and I know how to make people happy. If you know how to be a good leader, live in Washington State and would like a pretty and devoted companion please contact OLD DOG HAVEN: www.olddoghaven.org

PS.
If you could sponsor Jozie while she is waiting for her forever home please please visit this link to find out how you can help: www.olddoghaven.org

Check it out! The Humane Scorecard

One of the very best ways you can help animals is to make sure that your voice is heard in Congress!

Every year Humane Society Legislative Fund sends out a scorecard that shows Congress in Review. The scorecard is out. You can see how the nation and your state fared when it comes to the humane treatment of animals.

My state Montana has an extremely poor voting record. In most cases the Montana position was ANTI animal. A large group of Montanans who care about these issue are continually writing, emailing and faxing their representatives. Although I am disappointed in my states performance, it only energizes me and others like me to bring more attention to the issues. Montana's voting record shows that Montana representatives are truly backward in how they think about the humane treatment of animals.

Please check out the score of your state concerning animal issues and let your representative know what you think. Don't be afraid to email your representatives in Congress. They need to hear from you!

They pay for medical care for pets in special situations.

A Senior Moment...Meet Margo!

Willing Hearts Dalmatian Rescue
Is one of the ART HELPING ANIMALS supported charitites...
and Margo is one of my Sponsored Homeless pets!
Margo was dropped into shelters TWICE in her life and was rescued 2 years ago by
Willing Hearts.
She is living out her life in foster care with the love of a volunteer rescuer.
Margo is 14.
This from the rescue...
"She has been in her foster home for over two years now and we feel at her age it would be cruel to move her from that home. She will live out the rest of her life in her foster home receiving love and attention and all the medical care she will need. If we could get someone to sponsor her and help with some of her expenses that would be wonderful. If you would like to donate towards Margo's continuing care ..."
visit the WILLING HEARTS site and click the PAYPAL logo to make a donation.
Give a little, give a lot!
Just do it from the WILLING HEART!
thanks! Carol Chretien
