I just received this wonderful information from HSUS NRRO. As you may know I live in Montana and have been emailing senators and representatives for over two years on this issue. U.S. House Votes to Take Horses Off the Menu
WASHINGTON (August 3, 2007) — Late last night, the U.S. House of Representatives once again agreed to stop slaughtering American horses for human consumption, by adding a provision to the Agriculture spending bill for 2008 that prohibits the use of funds to allow horse slaughter to continue.

This is wonderful news. However, it will only ban slaughter temporarily, for one year. Please ask your legislators to pass the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, which will permanently ban horse slaughter and transportation for slaughter.
